As a coalition, the Pennsylvania Energy Efficiency for All Coalition (PA-EEFA) is deeply saddened and angered over the murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, who are now added to the list of millions of Black individuals who have lost their lives at the hands of white supremacy in this country. We stand in solidarity with organizations fighting to dismantle systemic racism - and the written and unwritten policies which perpetuate racism - that have allowed Black lives to be taken and their killers absolved. We recognize that the criminal justice policies and practices that have taken so many Black lives are linked to the policies and practices that have concentrated wealth and access to health-supporting public resources in white communities while creating countless obstacles for African Americans seeking to exercise the right to clean, healthy and safe housing and neighborhoods.
Our coalition will rededicate ourselves to interrogating the racial equity of current policies and practices - including our own - and being relentless in pursuing change. We will continue to play our part in the fight for just and equitable policies that promote basic human rights and advance economic opportunity for underserved communities because their lives matter - Black Lives Matter.
In solidarity,
