Copeland Manor Rain Garden: Introducing Low-Income Residents to Stormwater Solutions

Stormwater runoff from rainstorms collects trash, dirt, chemicals and other pollutants laying on our roads and parking lots and washes them down storm drains that empty directly into the Anacostia river and its tributaries.

Copeland Manor Apartments is an affordable housing property located in Washington, D.C.’s Marshall Heights neighborhood developed by NHT-Enterprise. The new rain garden installed at Copeland Manor will reduce stormwater runoff by collecting rainwater on site and soaking it into the ground, where natural processes help remove pollutants.
